In the face of current environmental challenges, countless environmentally-friendly transportation solutions have been developed over the last few years. Among them are Navya’s electric vehicles, one of the autonomous vehicle market’s most experienced model.
Electric autonomous vehicles
The use of motor vehicles running on fuel is still a major component of atmospheric pollution. Whether in cities or on industrial sites, CO2 emissions are often very high throughout the world – causing healthcare and environmental issues.
In aiming to reduce these CO2 emissions, lots of different eco-friendly solutions are being trialed. In France, Navya offers one of the most high-performance electric shuttles on the market.
Autonom® Shuttle: the most experienced eco-friendly autonomous shuttle on the market
In 2015, Navya developed one of the market’s most advanced eco-friendly vehicles. Their shuttles are 100% electric and autonomous and made for transporting 15 passengers over the first and last miles of their trips. Offering optimal safety and comfort conditions, this mobility solution is currently being experimented in over 21 countries.
In France, Navya shuttles are used to transport citizens through the Confluence district of Lyon, as well as in Val Thorens (Savoie). Several private sites also use this innovative mobility solution. By combining several cutting-edge technologies, the vehicles’ guidance systems make them one of the most reliable shared transport solutions currently available.
Autonomous electric vehicles throughout the world
The development of autonomous shuttles running on electric power has been a core issue for companies and local communities for several years now. Whether running on a closed circuit on a public road, experiments are fast-developing in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Electric or hybrid passenger cars
In the automotive sector, electric and hybrid models have also known steady growth over the last decade. Most renowned manufacturers now offer high-performance and reliable eco-friendly models. As for local communities, most major towns have implemented a network of electric vehicles for rent – so people can get around more easily.
Other environmentally-friendly mobility solutions
There are currently several other ecological mobility solutions. Whether already operational or still experimental, these systems encourage sustainable urban mobility whilst strongly limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
Tramlines
No doubt one of the most long-standing “ecological” transportation solutions. Tramlines run on electricity and transport passengers without acting negatively on the local carbon footprint. A number of towns in France and abroad have adopted a tramline to reduce congestion in city centers, offering an easier form of transport.
Electric bus lines
These shared transport systems are silent and non-polluting and are growing to be more and more in the spotlight. In fact, their electric charging solution is undergoing lots of changes at the moment. In France, EDF has been conducting R&D work on two wireless charging systems:
– inductive charging, that uses electromagnetic fields (pending standardization) – namely developed by Bombardier
– static ground-based recharging, developed by Alstom – for a wide range of electric buses fitted with an embedded autonomy system, and all types of tramlines.
Despite huge progress in research, 100% electric buses are still rare in local communities.
As the field leader in autonomous driving systems, Navya is now actively committed to developing ecological and sustainable mobility solutions.
