THE KEOLIS AUTONOM SHUTTLES PUT INTO SERVICE WITHIN THE RENNES CAMPUS 1 ON OPEN ROAD

From Friday, November 16, students and staff of the Beaulieu campus of the University of Rennes 1 can move around the campus using one of the two AUTONOM SHUTTLES.

An AUTONOM SHUTTLE service on open roads

KEOLIS, the main transport operator in the city of Rennes, has chosen to put into service two AUTONOM SHUTTLES of NAVYA on open roads. The shuttles share the road with pedestrians, cyclists, cars and buses, over a 1.3 kilometre itinerary with 6 stops and are fully integrated into the STAR transport network of Rennes. The AUTONOM SHUTTLES  are being tested until June 2019 and are available for free from Monday to Friday.

In the continuity of the “Intelligent Mobility” project

The implementation of these two shuttles is part of the “Intelligent Mobility” project led by the Rennes Metropolitan Area and the Rennes innovation ecosystem. The project aims to make Rennes Métropole a territory of innovation and experimentation at the service of intelligent mobility, in particular to develop ecological mobility and make mobility more fluid through digital technology.

“Keolis is proud to support Rennes Métropole in its proactive and innovative mobility policy: the autonomous shuttle project is an opportunity for the company to experience the future developments in business and technology in a concrete way.”

Laurent Senigout, director of Keolis Rennes

In connection with the TIGA program

This project was selected by the State as part of the first phase of the call for expressions of interest “Highly Ambitious Innovation Territories” (TIGA) of the future-oriented investment programme.

The final objective of this programme is to support territories in the key stages of an ambitious and unifying transformation project aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and increasing the sustainability of the territory.
